SUGAR LAND, Texas - The University of Houston softball team opened its fall exhibition season on Saturday with a pair of wins at the Sugar Land Round Robin.

The Cougars kicked off the day with a 4-2 victory over Texas State, a game that featured a pair of two-run home runs from senior catcher Elaina Nordstrom.

During the second game of the day, the UH offense got on a roll by scoring early and often to defeat Sam Houston State by the count of 11-1.

The Cougars will conclude play at the tournament tomorrow when they hit the field to face UL-Lafayette at 9:30 a.m. before squaring off against Texas Tech at 11:30 a.m. Admission is free to the event, which is being held at Sugar Land Imperial Park.
