Inclement Weather Takes a Toll on UH at the SKGSL College Classic
Oct. 4, 2009
SPRING, Texas - Facing harsh weather conditions, the University of Houston softball team was unable to add a tally to the win column this weekend at the Spring Klein Girls Softball League College Classic. Saturday, Oct. 3 - Day 1 Houston had a rough start to the SKGSL College Classic, falling to Galveston, 3-0, and then to Texas, 1-0. In the first game against the Whitecaps, junior Baillie Lott received the loss after throwing only two innings of work before being relieved by freshman Bailey Watts. In the fall to the Longhorns, junior Amanda Crabtree received the loss after throwing all seven innings and giving up five hits, four BB and eight strikeouts. "This was a bad day at the ballpark for us," head coach Kyla Holas said. "We lost Melissa (Gregson) yesterday in practice and then Baillie Lott could not continue today because of flu symptoms. We needed to step up and put some runs on the board early to take some of the work off our pitchers and did not. We have to have better at bats tomorrow in order to win ballgames. It's tough to win when you do not score. " Sunday, Oct. 4 - Day 2 Due to inclement weather, the second day of the tournament was cancelled. The Cougars plan to add two more games before the fall schedule ends. Stayed tuned to UHCougars.com for more details.
