HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team took down Galveston College 15-2 Friday afternoon at Cougar Softball Stadium.
Bailey Watts held the Whitecaps without a hit during her five innings of work while Houston built up a 5-0 lead behind the junior.
Holly Anderson started the scoring with a solo homo run in the fourth and followed up the next inning with another shot as Houston pushed 10 runs across the plate in the two innings.
The game marked the conclusion of fall exhibition season with Houston posting a 6-2 record.
"We asked the team to grade themselves and I was happy with the B-grade they gave out," said head coach Kyla Holas. "They've had a really strong attitude and worked really hard up to this point but that shows they're all buying in and committing to improving - and we still have plenty of that to do. "
"Our chemistry is great this year. They're a great group to be around and it's really enjoyable. They actually outworked us this week in practice, which is very rare around here.
"We're going to give them the next week off with midterms coming up and then get back out there and work on our conditioning and be counting down the days until the season gets here."
