Houston Softball Achieves More Academic Success

HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball program posted a 3.59 fall semester GPA to establish a new program-best semester and also continued to improve upon their own record cumulative GPA with a 3.43.
The new record GPA surpasses the previous past semesters of ascending achievement. The recent mark was set last spring at 3.54 and the cumulative GPA has continued to rise each of the past six years under head coach Kyla Holas and the Student-Athlete Development Center and assistant ACE director Lori Selzer and staff.
Holly Anderson, Reina Gaber, Kendra Cullum, Sydney Gerbracht, Diedre Outon, Haley Outon, Jamie Edwards, Kayla Holland, Katie St. Pierre, Tess Soefje, Jessica Snyder rounded out the remaining Dean's List selections.
The impressive grades begin the 2012-13 season showing improvement of last year's impressive accomplishments that included earning a Conference USA Sport Academic Award, 18 C-USA Commissioner Honor Roll selections, 11 NFCA Scholar All-Americans and advancing to the NCAA post season for a second straight season.
The softball team joins the baseball, golf, tennis, swimming and diving programs in setting team records in the classroom this past fall semester. Under Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mack Rhoades watch, the cumulative GPA for all sports has risen each season since his arrival in 2009 and numerous sport programs have continued to surpass their own best marks set within the past three years.
