Houston Softball Returns to Practice
Jan. 7, 2013
HOUSTON - Amidst cold weather and soggy fields, the University of Houston softball program returned to the diamond for their first practice of the 2013 season.
"That was the best first day I can remember, despite the weather," said head coach Kyla Holas. "I'm really excited about how hard the majority of the team has worked over the break. For them to come back with this kind of starting point - it is going to make for a very fun year when you have a team that can do the extra stuff that not everybody else is willing to do."
The first week of spring practice is week-long event that the team has looked forward to the most - or perhaps looked forward to ending the most. A heavy dose of strength building exercises and conditioning, courtesy of Assistant Director of Sports Performance Dale Jones, sets the tone for the rest of the season.
The Cougars open the season hosting the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic and the Hilton Houston Plaza Invite on back-to-back weekends beginning. First pitch for Houston vs. Texas State is set for 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 8.
