HOUSTON – Fans of the University of Houston softball team will enjoy a season full of gifts and special events at the Cougar Softball Stadium with an exciting promotional schedule during the 2010 season.
To kick off the season, softball will host “Pulse of the Pride Night” on Feb. 12 when the Cougars play Ohio State at 7 p.m. The first 250 fans to arrive for the Houston game will receive a free Pulse of the Pride wristband.
“Red Rage Weekend” will take place on Feb. 19-20. Before the game against Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday at 5 p.m., free Houston softball t-shirts will be given to the first 50 fans. The following day when the Cougars take on Purdue at 5 p.m., every fan in attendance will receive a free Houston softball poster, while posters autographed by the 2010 Houston softball team will be given to 10 lucky fans.
Houston hosts its Fourth Annual Striking Out Breast Cancer Game on March 10, when the Cougars play Southern in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. The team will wear pink jerseys and helmets, which can be bid on along with other gifts in the silent auction that takes place prior to and during the game. All proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Houston Affiliate. To donate items for the auction, please contact Chris Burkhalter at (713) 743-9409.
For the Southern Miss doubleheader on March 13, the Cougars welcome all Houston Independent School District students to “HISD Day,’ where they can get in for $5 and receive special promotions throughout the day.
Houston softball campers can reunite for “Little League Day/Camper Reunion” on March 28 when the Cougars take on UTEP at noon. All little league players wearing their team jersey and every camper wearing her softball camp t-shirt will get in to the game free.
Houston-area Girl Scout troops will be selling cookies throughout the season, leading up to “Girl Scout Day” on April 10 when the Cougars play Memphis in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Be on the lookout for Girl Scout cookie booths during the Purdue game on Feb. 20, the Fourth Annual Striking Out Breast Cancer game on March 10, the Southern Miss match up on March 13 and the Cougars’ doubleheader against UTEP on March 27.
Looking for a unique group outing? Bring your youth team, school or organization to a Houston softball game at Cougar Softball Stadium. Groups with 10 or more members will receive the VIP treatment and are eligible for following benefits: the opportunity to be bat kids for the Houston softball team, chances to win free t-shirts and other prizes, recognition at the game, standing with the team during the National Anthem, the opportunity to call the fourth inning of the game, attend a post-game autograph session with the team and a post-game opportunity to run the bases.
Groups ranging from 10-49 can purchase tickets for $4 each. Parties of 50-99 can buy tickets for $3 each. Those with 100 members or more will receive the discounted price of $2 each. Season tickets are now on sale. A softball package is only $75 and is good for all 18 home games. The tickets also are part of a flexible ticket package that is good for any game. With the flexible ticket package, fans are given the opportunity to either use one ticket for each home game or multiple tickets to a few games.
