    HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team steps away from Conference USA action with a pair of mid-week single games against a two teams in No. 19 Georgia Tech and Auburn that made the 2006 NCAA Tournament field.

    "This is a different situation for our team playing a single game," head coach Kyla Holas said. "We have to be focused from the first pitch. Georgia Tech and Auburn are a solid ball clubs. We have to make sure that we're ready to go."

    Houston (20-9, 3-0 C-USA) has won 13 of its last 16 games. Eight of the Cougars nine losses this season have come to Top 25 opponents with four of those setbacks coming by a single run.
