HOUSTON--The University of Houston softball team will travel to Memphis, Tenn. to compete against Conference USA rival, Memphis, in a three-game series, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 1 p.m. The final game will be played at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The Cougars enter the series with an 18-16 overall record, and 7-4 in C-USA. The current five-game winning-streak has moved the Cougars' overall record above .500 for the first time since Feb. 20.

Senior Elaina Nordstrom tops the charts for batting average at .348, with senior Katie Bush close behind at .337. Reigning C-USA Hitter of the Week, senior Laurie Wagner is the team-leader for RBI with 30. She has also hit eight doubles this season and six home runs. Senior Christa Raley and freshman Melissa Gregson have also hit six home runs this season.

Sophomore Baillie Lott leads in the circle with her record of 9-6 and 3.00 ERA. Junior Lindsey Olson who pitched her first complete game on Saturday is 2-1 with an ERA of 3.78.

Memphis ((16-21, C-USA 2-10) enters games with a 6-4 record on their home field.

The Tigers are led at the plate by Kamri Chester who is batting.316 with five doubles, a triple and a home run this season.

Leigh Rowan is batting .309 with four doubles, one triple and three home runs. Tori Gross is the team-leader for home run with three, and is tied with Leila Dolfo for a team-high six doubles.

As a team, the Tigers have 50 doubles, nine triples and 18 home runs.

Janelle Valle is the leader in the circle with her ERA of 3.28 and 6-9 record. She also leads with 54 strikeouts. Vanessa Walle is 5-8 with 41 strikeouts, while Kimber Bossom is 5-4 with 37 strikeouts.

 

 

Houston leads the all-time series with the Tigers, 8-2.
