The Cougars are fresh off an exciting, walk-off win over Jackson State, Tuesday night and are 7-3 in their last 10 games. Houston is currently second in Conference USA in batting average (.286) including three of the league's top 10 hitters.

Katie St. Pierre is second in the league (.390) while Holly Anderson (.368) and Haley Outon (.347) are fourth and ninth.

Houston was able to win a 3-2 thriller against Jackson State on Tuesday at Cougar Softball Stadium. Houston got a complete game, seven-hit effort from junior pitcher Diedre Outon and a game winning single from Taylor Duplechain to come away with the victory.

Junior Kendra Cullum collected two more hit by pitches to bring her season total to a Conference USA leading 20, ranking second in the nation.

UTEP (12-22, 1-10) enters the game on a seven game losing streak following a tough, 11-inning loss on the road in Orlando against UCF on Sunday.

Danielle Pearson has thrown 117.1 of UTEP's 229.2 innings in the circle this year. Pearson has compiled a 6-9 record with a 3.46 earned run average. The freshman is holding opponents to just a .257 batting average in 2013.

Erika Arcuri leads the way for UTEP at the plate with a .363 batting average in 102 at bats this season. Junior Alanna Leasau leads the Miners power threat with six home runs and 28 runs batted in.
