HOUSTON – United as one state, the University of Houston Baseball and Softball programs will partner with Gallery Furniture’s Mattress Mack, KTRH and Rice Athletics to encourage fans attending its home contests this weekend to donate clothing, bottled water and blankets as well as monetary contributions, including checks, to help in the relief effort for the families and victims affected by the West, TX fertilizer plant explosion.
$1 off of every ticket sold at the gate this weekend from both baseball and softball will go directly to West, TX. Fans are encouraged to come out and support your local teams as well as help our friends and fellow Texans in West, TX through this difficult time.
Six home contests will be played at Cougar Field and Cougar Softball Stadium on Houston’s campus this weekend as Baseball hosts Rice on Friday (6:30 pm), Saturday (12:30 pm) and Sunday (1 pm) and Softball hosts Tulsa in a double-header Saturday (1 pm/3 pm) and one game Sunday (12 pm).

Staff and student-athletes will be on-hand at each game to collect all donations for this worthy cause. On Monday, April 22, Gallery Furniture will pick up all donated items and deliver it to West, TX.
