May 7, 2008

HOUSTON -- Senior pitcher Angel Shamblin was named a Top 10 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award. This is the first mention on the finalist list for the Davie, Fla., native that is 30-2 in the circle this season.

The Amateur Softball Association, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, announced the ten finalists after narrowing a list of 25 finalists. In its seventh year, the USA Collegiate Player of the Year was designed to recognize outstanding athletic achievements by NCAA Division I collegiate softball players.

The list of 10 finalists will be cut to three on May 21. The final three players will travel to the 2008 Women's College World Series, where the winner will be announced at the WCWS Party at the Park on May 27.
