HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team heads into the Conference USA Championship presented by Coca-Cola as the No. 1 seed off the heels of the program's first regular-season title. The Cougars join East Carolina with an opening round bye and face the winner of the UCF-Marshall game at 5:30pm CDT Thursday.

"Our team needs to refocus and prepare for the conference tournament," head coach Kyla Holas said after Sunday's loss to Marshall. "We'll watch what happens between UCF and Marshall and go from there."

After starting the season 7-6, the Cougars (39-16, 20-4 C-USA) have won 32 of their last 42 games with five of the 10 setbacks during the stretch coming against Top 25 opponents. In fact, 11 of Houston's 16 losses this season have come against Top 25 foes. Five of those 11 losses came by a single run.

The winner of the Conference USA Championship presented by Coca-Cola on the UCF campus will claim the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.

Live stats via GameTracker for all Houston games will be available on UHCougars.com in addition to a live audio webcast for CSTV All-Access subscripers.
