HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team found out Sunday afternoon that it was placed in the College Station Regional as the No. 2 seed and will face No. 22 Louisiana-Lafayette Friday at 1pm CDT.

The Cougars (42-16) also are joined by the No. 4 national seed Texas A&M and Sam Houston State. Those two teams will square off Friday at 4pm CDT.

"The good news with this selection is that we know what we're up against," head coach Kyla Holas said. "We've played every team in our regional this season in mid-week doubleheaders so there are no surprises in store for us."

Houston secured Conference USA's automatic bid with a 1-0 victory against East Carolina. The Cougars are the lone C-USA squad to make the NCAA Tournament field and return to the NCAA field for the first time since the 2004 season.

FRIDAY, MAY 18 (all times CDT)
Game 1 - Houston vs. Louisiana-Lafayette, 1pm
Game 2 - Texas A&M vs. Sam Houston State, 4pm

SATURDAY, MAY 19 (minimum 30 minutes between games)
Game 3 - Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 12 p.m.
Game 4 - Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 2:30 p.m.
Game 5 - Winner Game 4 vs. Loser Game 3, 5:30 p.m.

SUNDAY, MAY 20
Game 6 - Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5, 1 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased through the Texas A&M Athletic Ticket Office at 1-888-99-AGGIE. All-tournament tickets will be sold until the competition begins.
