HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Softball program posted the 14th highest GPA in the nation and was honored as an Easton/NFCA All-Academic Team with a 3.534 cumulative mark for the 2016-17 academic year, announced by the NFCA.

The Cougars' collective GPA also led the American Athletic Conference.

"We pride our program for being successful on the field, but also in the classroom," Head Coach Kristin Vesely said. "Our players are dedicated in their studies, and we are elated to see their hard work recognized nationally."

Houston is coming off a 30-25 campaign in 2017. The Cougars, who were 12-6 in American Athletic Conference play, finished second in The American for the regular season and added a runner-up finish at The American Championship. The two finishes are both the highest respective finishes for the program as a member of the league.

The Houston Athletics Ticket Office is once again proud to offer the Shasta Pass for the 2017-18 season. For just $80, Cougar fans can purchase one Shasta Pass, which allows season-long general admission entrance to all Houston Volleyball, Soccer, Women's Basketball and Softball home games.

The Shasta Pass offers Houston fans a substantial saving as single-game tickets start at $5 for all four sports. To purchase a Shasta Pass, call 713-GO-COOGS or CLICK HERE.
