The University of Houston softball coaching staff announced their winter camp schedule Monday afternoon. The general skills clinics, for ages 8-14, will be held on Dec. 5-6, while the more advanced high school workshops will be held on Jan. 9-10.
“Our general skills clinics are designed to give the young players solid and steady fundamentals and knowledge of the game as the high school clinics are designed to give the high school student a day in the life experience of a collegiate athlete,” assistant coach Abbie Sims said.
General Skills Hitting Clinic
Date: December 5-6, 2009
Time: 9 - 11 a.m.
Price: $80
Description: Campers will learn advanced skills of hitting in addition to the drills and fundamentals that Division I college athletes perform on a daily basis.
General Skills Slapping Clinic
Date: December 5-6, 2009
Time: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Price: $80
Description: This clinic will focus on teaching the proper advanced fundamentals of slap hitting including drop bunting, soft slapping and power slapping. They will learn the drills and fundamentals that Division I college athletes perform on a daily basis.
General Skills Pitching Clinic
Date: December 5-6, 2009
Time: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Description: This clinic will focus on teaching the proper advanced fundamentals of pitching, which includes learning the drop ball, rise ball, curve ball, screw ball and change up in addition to learning the proper mechanics of the fastball. This clinic will give athletes a chance to experience the drills and fundamentals of a Division I athlete.
