HOUSTON - Julia Lonnegren claimed her second conference title in the 1M event on Day 3 of the Conference USA Championships held at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Freshman Natasha Burgess finished as the runner up (309.25) for a second-consecutive day to her teammate Lonnegren.

With the win (316.35), Lonnegren became the first multiple-event champion at the 2012 Championships, and has a shot to sweep the entire diving portion of the meet with the third and final diving event tomorrow (platform).

Lonnegren has a chance to join three other divers in conference history to sweep all three diving events - and all three are from the Houston ranks (Anastasia Pozdniakova 2009, Tania Cagnotto 2006 and Yulia Pakhalina 2002).

The Cougars made a strong showing in the 200 free with Moira Fraser (1:49.00) and Kim Eeson (1:49.27) taking third and fifth place.

Houston stands in fourth place with 361 points.

Houston concludes the C-USA Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday as the morning preliminary session begins at 10 a.m. with the finals resuming in the evening at 6 p.m.
