FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Houston Swimming & Diving team took home 10 first-place finishes in a 174.50 – 122.50 rout of Colorado State, Friday evening at Moby Pool.
The Cougars got off to a great start winning the first four events. Laura Laderoute, Rebecca Cox, Peyton Kondis, and Zarena Brown teamed up for a top finish in the 200 Medley Relay, posting a season best 1:43.31. Reese Lamph finished first in the 1000 Freestyle (10:31.58), followed by a first-place finish in the 200 Freestyle from Brown with a time of 1:51.96.
Laderoute notched her second win of the day in the 100 Backstroke, finishing in 56.63, while Mykenzie Leehy posted her second fasted time this season in the 100 Freestyle (52.90) to finish first.
Eleanna Koutsouveli earned Houston’s sixth top finish of the evening in the 200 Backstroke
(2:02.96), and was followed up by Brown with her third win of the meet in the 500 Freestyle. Brown led the field with a time of 5:04.09.
The Cougars finished out the day with its second-best time this season in the 400 Freestyle Relay to finish first in the event.
“I’m very proud of this group tonight,” said Head Coach Ryan Wochomurka. “To win on the road against a tough and talented team is exciting. We raced hard at altitude and under difficult circumstances. I could not be more proud of our grit this evening”.
Houston will stay in Colorado to face Northern Colorado tomorrow at 12 p.m. CT.
