COLLEGE STATION, Texas - University of Houston sophomore diver Anastasia Pozdniakova finished with 311.45 points to win the 1-meter springboard competition Saturday in the Student Recreation Center Natatorium during the second day of the Art Adamson Invitational.

Pozdniakova, who finished third in the finals of the 3-meter event Friday, topped all divers with 293.95 points in the preliminaries Saturday afternoon and maintained that high level during the finals later in the evening. Michigan's Elise Lee finished second with 306.00 points in the finals.

Junior Ginni van Katwijk finished sixth with 248.20 points in the finals, while senior captain Rachel Gitelson placed seventh with 244.35 points. van Katwijk, who transferred to UH from Wyoming, earned a fifth-place finish on the 3-meter board on Friday.

Gitelson is scheduled to be the only Cougar to compete in Sunday's platform competition. That event is slated to begin around noon, Sunday, during the final day of the meet.
