Cagnotto Finishes Second on 1-Meter at Texas A&M Fall Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - University of Houston freshman diver Tania Cagnotto finished second on the 1-meter springboard with 323.75 points Friday during the first day of the Texas A&M Fall Invitational at the Student Rec Center Natatorium.
With only the divers competing at this meet, the Cougars stood in sixth place with 46 total points, ahead of Conference USA rival Tulane. The host Aggies posted 344 points to lead after the first day, while new C-USA rival SMU was second with 295 points.
Cagnotto, a native of Bolzano, Italy, led after the preliminaries with 304.70 points, making her the only diver to crack the 300-point mark.
However, South Carolina's Allison Brennan scored 330.35 points in the final later Friday evening to overtake Cagnotto by less than seven points.
Pozdniakova was third after the preliminaries with 292.30 points, while Kiess stood in fourth with 274.90 points.
The second day of the Texas A&M Invitational will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday with preliminaries and continue with a finals session at 6 p.m. Admission is free all weekend long.
