HOUSTON - Senior Anastasia Pozdniakova won her fourth-straight 1-meter diving competition this season to guide the University of Houston swimming and diving team during the second day of competition at the Cougar Classic Fall Invitational at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium on Saturday night.

With their performance during the second day of the three day meet, Houston stands in fourth place with 325 points.

Pozdniakova turned in a 347.45 point performance to take top honors a day after winning the 3-meter competition on Friday. Sophomore Jessalyn Almond followed in seventh scoring 254.85 points.

In the swimming events, sophomore Beccy Hillis notched the second fastest time in school history, coming in fifth place with a time of 1:03.33 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Reka Kovacs was eighth (1:05.89), freshman Holli Pisarski was 11th (1:06.68) and freshman Catherine Finley was 23rd (1:14.03).

Kovacs went on to take top honors for the Cougars, turning in a fifth place time of 4:22.73 in the 400-yard IM, while sophomore Natalie Newcomb was 12th in a personal best 4:33.78.

Senior Jessica Shamburger turned in a fourth place finish of 56.23 in the 100-yard backstroke. That time ranks as the third fastest time in school history. Freshman Kimmie Ballo added an 18th place finish of 59.04.

Sophomore Kimberley Eeson led all Cougars with a seventh place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with at time of 1:51.34. Freshman Christine Salinas followed in 18th (1:54.13), freshman Kimmy Ballo was 22nd (1:55.64) and sophomore Olga Bordatcheva set a personal best with her 23rd place time of 1:56.75.

En route to a personal best, junior Andrea Kells finished 11th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.34.

In the relays, the Houston "A" team of Shamburger, Hillis, Kells and Eeson finished sixth with a time of 1:44.16 in the 200-yard medley relay. That time was clocked at the second fastest time in school history. The "B" team of Ballo, Pisarski, Salinas and sophomore Natalie Newcomb were 13th in 1:51.72.

Houston capped the second day of the event with a ninth place in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Salinas, Bordatcheva, Ballo and Eeson turned in a time of 7:39.35.

The Cougar Classic Fall Invitational will wrap-up on Sunday. Prelims are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and the finals are slated to start at 4:30 p.m. Live results from the competition will be available at UHCougars.com.

NOTES FROM THE PRELIMS
- Freshman Reka Kovacs set a personal record in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:23.18. The time was the sixth fastest time in school history.
- Freshman Holli Pisarski set a personal record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.41.
- Sophomore Natalie Newcomb set a personal record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.38.
- Freshman Christine Salinas set a personal record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.52.
- Sophomore Olga Bordatcheva set a personal record of 1:08.69 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
