More than 160 Student-Athletes Named to C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll

HOUSTON - Senior Julia Lonnegren has been named Conference USA Diver of the Week (Jan. 22) following her outstanding performance in a double dual meet against SMU and North Texas last week.

The Forolund, Sweden, native captured her second weekly award and the ninth of her career following her sweep of the 1M and 3M events at North Texas (Jan. 16).

She led the Cougars sweep in the 1M by scoring a 290.47 with freshman Danielle Shedd and Natasha Burgess rounding out the top three places. In the 3M, Lonnegren bested the competition by 34.72 points as she scored 310.87.

"We had just coming off our training camp, so it's always nice to see the training pay off. That's very encouraging for me because it can be a little tiring to compete after an experience like that but I felt great out there last week and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season," Lonnegren said.

The wins in the diving events were Lonnegren's first of the season although the senior has placed among the top finishers in every event she has entered this year.

Rachel Nichol of SMU was named the C-USA Swimmer of the Week.
