Houston Swimming And Diving Hosts Texas A&M

HOUSTON - University of Houston freshman Julia Lonnegren was named Conference USA Diver of the Week, after only competing in her second meet for the University of Houston.

Lonnegren won her first diving event as a Cougar after scoring a 299.75 in the 3-meter event on Saturday, which qualified her for the NCAA Diving Zones. The freshman then earned a second place finish in the 1-meter competition after posting a 249.05.

The Forolund, Sweden, native joined the Cougar squad prior to the start of the second semester.

Taking home the Swimmer of the Week award was Pam Zelnick of Rice.

Houston will be back in action Friday, Feb. 5 for a dual against Texas A&M. The Cougars then wrap-up the regular season with the Second Annual Sprint for the Cure Meet against Texas on Feb. 10. Following the dual meets, UH will host the Conference USA Championships on Feb. 24-27.
