Bouter Completes Run at Commonwealth Games

GOLD COAST – Houston senior diver Micaela Bouter closed out the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games yesterday with two appearances in the finals.

Bouter and her partner Nicole Gillis of Arkansas, finished 10th overall in her first event of the week the 3-Meter Synchronized Springboard after posting a 238.80 points in the event. The duo’s best dive came in the final round when the pair tallied 56.70 points off of an Inward 2 ½ Somersault.

Bouter finished 11th in the prelims of the 1-Meter Springboard with 230.75 points, advancing to the finals in the event. The South Africa native finished 10th overall in the event with 217.25 points, her best dive coming in the second and fifth rounds where she posted 50.70 points off of a forward 2 ½ Somersault and Reverse 1 ½ Somersault 1 ½ Twists.

In her final event of the games Bouter posted a 14th-place finish in the prelims with 213.17 points.

The 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth games welcomed over 6,000 athletes and team officials from 71 Commonwealth nations. This is the largest sporting event to be held in Australia in the last decade and will feature 18 sports and seven para-sports.
