    The American All-Academic Team Named

Swimming & Diving Honored For Classroom Excellence

    July 10, 2014

HOUSTON - The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team received recognition for their hard work in the classroom as The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced the 2014 Spring Scholar All-America Teams, supported by Nike Swim.

As a team, the Cougars earned a semester GPA of 3.2 and were among 150 teams nation-wide honored.

"I think this recognition is a tribute to our academic support from Maria Peden and Angel Shamblin," Swimming Head Coach Rich Murphy said. "They deserve the credit for developing the support system that allows our student-athletes to thrive in the classroom. Academics, in this case reflected in our team GPA, is our number one priority as we are building champions for life while pursuing excellence in the pool."

The Spring Team Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the semester coinciding with the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
