HOUSTON – University of Houston Swimming & Diving standout Micaela Bouter will begin competition at the 2017 FINA World Diving Championships in Budapest, Hungary July 17.
Bouter will take to the international stage on Monday when she competes in the preliminaries of the 3-meter synchro alongside Nicole Gillis from the University of Arkansas after finishing first overall at a prior international event.
The two-time American Athletic Conference defending champion in the 3-meter springboard will also compete in the preliminaries of the event Thursday at the World Championships after finishing second overall at the Durban South Africa National Championships.
Bouter is coming off of a stellar junior season at Houston where she helped the Cougars pick up their first conference championship in program history with a first place finish in the 3-meter springboard. Bouter earned numerous awards last season including the American Athletic Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Year and Most Outstanding Diver.
