HOUSTON - Former Houston diver Anastasia Pozdniakova placed 19th in the 3m springboard during Friday's portion of the diving preliminaries at the 2012 London Olympics.

A native of Elektrostal, Russia, Pozdniakova appeared in her second-straight Olympics after capturing a silver medal with former Houston teammate Yulia Pakhalina in the women's 3m synchronized springboard in Beijing.

Pozdniakova secured a score of 286.50 to finish 19th in the preliminaries. Her top dive scored 67.50 points with a reverse two-and-a-half somersault.

Houston's head diving coach Jane Figueiredo served as a coach to Pozdniakova for the second straight Olympiad.

The semifinals for the event will take place tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with the finals set for Sunday at 1 p.m.

Junior Errol Nolan (Jamica) and assistant track and field coach Seun Adigun (Nigeria) are the other remaining Cougars set to compete in the Olympics. For more information, please visit UHCougars.com.
