HOUSTON - After have three weeks off, the University of Houston swimming and diving team will return to the pool this weekend when they travel east for two days of dual action.

The weekend will open on Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. when the Cougars swim against Duke and Georgia Tech in Durham, N.C. This will mark the first meeting in the pool between the two schools.

Houston will then travel to Wilmington, N.C. for duals against UNC-Wilmington and Emory. The Cougars are 1-0 all-time against Emory and will compete against UNC-Wilmington for the first time.

The last time the Cougars were in the pool they recorded wins over Rice and Florida International at the Phill Hansel Duals on Oct. 9-10. Swimmer Kimberley Eeson was named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week for her performance. The Harare, Zimbbabwe native won two of her three individual events and she was a member of the winning 800-yard freestyle relay at the Phill Hansel Duals. She also set a personal best of 57.80 in the 100-yard butterfly.

Divers Anastasia Pozdniakova and Jessalyn Almond both recorded NCAA qualifying marks in their performances at the duals. They qualified for competition at the NCAA Zone Diving Meet by finishing first and second, respectively, in the 1- and 3-meter competition.

Following this weekend's action, Houston will be back in the pool on Nov. 20-22 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium for the Cougar Classic Fall Invitational.
