Two Houston true freshmen, Falon Hopkins and Jessica Blake looked strong in establishing personal bests in the 100-yard butterfly (57.61) and 100-backstroke (58.94) respectively. Deidra Thomas (200-free), Agustina Foglietta (500-free) and Mandy Harms (100-free) also recorded best times as the Cougars jumped out to its best start in years.
The UH swimmers and divers will next be in action in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for a pair of meets on November 5-6. Houston faces meet host Arkansas on Friday and NCAA Division II power Drury College in Fayetteville on Saturday.
