Kiara Pulliam joined the sports performance staff in March 2013. In her current role, she works closely with the student-athletes and coaching staffs of the Tennis and Men's and Women's Track and Field teams to develop in-season and off-season workout programs.
Pulliam is no stranger to the University of Houston. A four-year letterwinner from 2007 to 2011, she finished among Conference USA's top-three shot put throwers during her final two seasons and was a four-time NCAA Regional qualifier in that event.
After graduating from UH in 2010, she worked as a fitness attendant at River Oaks Country Club Fitness and Tennis Center. From there, she served as a volunteer coach at UH during the 2011-12 season, working with the Football, Men's and Women's Track and Field, Volleyball and Swimming and Diving teams.
During the 2012-13 season, she served as a volunteer coach at Texas A&M, where she assisted with the Softball, Volleyball and Women's Basketball teams.
A two-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, Pulliam received her bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Houston in 2010. She is scheduled to received her master's degree in physical education from Houston in the spring.
She is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified.
Pulliam, a native of Louise, Texas, is engaged to be married to Terence Higgins in August and lives in Houston. Her younger brother, Desmond, is a member of the Houston Football team.
