CAREER HONORS American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team (2014-15)
UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON SOPHOMORE (2015-16) Competed at one tournament in the fall, the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships... Fell in the Round of 64 in doubles along with Despoina Vogasari, and lost her Round of 128 singles match... Did not compete again at Regionals after rain forced the cancelation of consolation matches.
FRESHMAN (2014-15) Joined the team at the start of the spring season and immediately became a key contributor to a squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament and set a school record with 18 straight wins... Posted a 14-8 singles record, including victories in five of her seven American Athletic Conference matches... Won her collegiate debut over Daniela Garcia Diaz of UTSA (1/17), 6-2, 6-3... Tallied a 6-0, 6-4 win over Madison Rhyner of Missouri (2/20) in a tight Houston win... Came from behind in Houston's 4-3 win over No. 36 Brown (2/28), with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Ammu Mandalap... The victory over Mandalap kicked off an eight-match winning streak that ran from Feb. 28 - April 5... Included in the streak was a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Julia Schroeder of No. 29 Dartmouth (3/28)... Won an important point in the American Championship semifinal victory over No. 73 SMU (4/17), a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Vaszilisza Bulgakova... Was 8-11 in doubles matches, with a 5-5 American record... Had a five-match winning streak from Feb. 28 - March 19... Won her American Championship quarterfinal match over UConn (4/16).
PRIOR TO HOUSTON Markovic is one of the top junior players in the world, as she was ranked as high as 128th in the ITF rankings, the highest junior ranking ever for a University of Houston signee... Won her first ITF junior tournament at the age of 15 in her hometown of Belgrade, Serbia... Has 63 international junior combined wins (singles & doubles) in 16 different countries and was most recently the champion of the ITF Grade 4 Montenegro Open in May of 2014.
