HOUSTON - With two matches scheduled for Sunday, the Houston tennis team moved things indoors to face and defeat both Texas State and Prairie View A&M while the rain came down outside.

The Cougars, who defeated Texas Tech on Saturday, swept both matches in 6-0 fashion, winning all six singles matches against both school and foregoing the doubles competitions.

"I am happy with the way we are performing," said Houston head coach John Severance. "We've been able to build on our wins this past week and the girls are playing with good confidence."

Throughout the day, the Cougars dominated every match. The only set that was even close was between senior Diana Martin and Texas State's Melanie Hall at the No. 2 spot. The first set went to Hall in a close 7-5 win. From there though it was all Martin as she closed out the match 6-2, 6-0.

Junior transfer Sarah Reimer made her Cougar debut by claiming a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Natalie McLeod of Texas State at the No. 5 spot. Freshman Sacha Gumbs also grabbed her first singles win of the season, blanking Chacon of Prairie View A&M, 6-0, 6-0.

Senior Biljana Dimovska ran her singles winning streak to 7-0 to open up the 2005 year, while junior Kami Martin stayed perfect on the weekend with a 3-0 record against her Texas Tech, Texas State and Prairie View opponents.

Houston next hosts to three Louisiana schools in Louisiana Tech on Friday, Feb. 18, Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday, Feb. 19.
