Houston Tennis Falls to No. 45 Kansas State, 4-0

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The University of Houston tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 45 Kansas State Thursday at Body First Tennis and Fitness Center in Manhattan, Kan. The Cougars fell to 7-5 overall, while the Wildcats improved to 8-1 on the season.
The Houston duo of Joanna Kacprzyk and Maja Kazimieruk fell to Kansas State's Petra Niedermayerova and Nina Sertic by a score of 8-2 at the No. 2 position, while the Cougar tandem of Bryony Hunter and Giorgia Pozzan dropped only their second match of the season at the top spot as the Wildcats claimed the opening point.
Niedermayerova led off singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Pozzan at the No. 1 position, while Kazimieruk dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Karla Bonacic at the No. 2 slot as Kansas State took a 3-0 advantage.
After falling in the first-set tiebreaker, Kacprzyk fought back to take the second set from Antea Huljev at the No. 3 position by a score of 6-1 before falling in the deciding set, 6-2, as the Wildcats claimed the match.
The Cougars wrap up the weekend at Kansas at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
