Mustangs Ride Past Tennis

HOUSTON - The Cougar tennis team traveled to Dallas for a showdown with the No. 61 SMU Mustangs on Sunday, but was shutout in a 7-0 final, falling to 8-4 on the season.

Senior Biljana Dimovska rebounded with a 6-2 win in the second set after falling by the same score in the first set. The second-set win by Dimovska forced the tie breaking third set where the Mustangs' Svetlana Kouzmenko slipped away with a 10-8 win to take the match.

The Mustangs captured the doubles point with a three-match sweep, before claiming all six singles pairings.

The Cougars are 0-3 against ranked opponents where they have fell 4-3 to No. 23 LSU, 5-2 to No. 39 A&M and now No. 61 SMU.

Houston stays on the road to face Baylor in Waco on Wednesday, March 9, at 2 p.m.
