Tennis Defeats Northern Arizona 4-3 in Seven-Hour Match

March 18, 2003

HOUSTON - Despite inclement weather and three venue changes, the University of Houston women's tennis team defeated Northern Arizona 4-3 in a match that took approximately seven hours to complete.

The match, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the John E. Hoff Varsity tennis courts, was moved to the Metropolitan Tennis Club due to rain and high winds. The teams were able to play all six singles matches and the No. 2 double match before having to switch venues.

The teams returned to the recreational courts on the UH campus for the final doubles matches, only to be delayed by lighting problems. Karine Urbin and Sarah Flood won at the No. 3 spot to clinch the match as Houston prevailed 4-3 to improve its overall record to 8-6.
