Houston tennis breezes past A&M Corpus Christi

HOUSTON - The University of Houston tennis team improved to 11-9 on the year Tuesday afternoon with a -1 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi at the John E. Hoof Varsity courts on the University of Houston campus. Houston won the number two through six singles handily as Diana Matin at three and Kami Miller at six won their respective matches 6-0, 6-0. Yolandi Terblanche at four won 6-1, 6-0 and Karine Urbin took her match 6-0, 6-1. Biljana Dimovska also made quick work of Felipa Figueiredo, winning 6-2, 6-2. The only match the Cougars did not come away with a win in was the number one single match between Houston's Miranda Foley and TAMU-CC's Carlota Santos. The two battled back and forth in a marathon first set which Foley won 7-6, but Santos came away with the next two sets 6-2, 10-8 for the Islanders only win. The Cougars made quick work of the Islanders in doubles play to start the day with Foley And Dimovska defeating Santos and Figueiredo 8-3, Martin and and Urbin won 8-3 over Amanda Brahim and Lana Burton while Terblanche and Miler downed Kelsey Gist and Lauren Schmidt 8-1.
