LOUISVILLE, Ky - The No. 3 seeded Houston Cougars defeated sixth-seeded Marquette, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round of the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship on Friday at Seneca Park. The Cougars will now advance to the semifinals where they will take on No. 1 Tulane on Saturday at noon. The Golden Eagles will face No. 7 Charlotte on Saturday at 9 a.m at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Houston clinched the doubles point when Yolandi Terblanche and Kami Miller downed Francina Bonnelly and Eva Trujillo Herrera at the No. 3 spot.

In singles, Miranda Foley swept Marquette's Veronica Garcia Briseno, 6-1, 6-1, while Diana Martin and Miller also claimed straight-set victories. Martin downed Callan Smith, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 and Miller defeated Dominika Dabrowski 6-3, 6-1 as well in the No. 6 spot.
