Cougar tennis falls to Tulane in semifinals of C-USA Tournament

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The No. 3 University of Houston tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 1 Tulane Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship on Saturday at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisville Ky. In doubles, the Tulane team of Nancy Kockott and Dorottya Magas picked up an 8-1 victory over Diana Martin and Karine Urbin at No. 2. Jenny Kuhn and Maria Ivanov clinched the doubles point for the Green Wave after nabbing an 8-6 win over Yolandi Terblanche and Diana Miller. Houston battled in singles play, but was not able to pull out the match. Kami Miller earned the Cougars' only singles win, after sweeping Ana Saabi, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6. At No.1 Jenny Kuhn beat Miranda Foley 6-3, 6-0, Magas defeated Terblanche, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 4 spot, while Erika Valdes claimed a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Karine Urbin. Houston will now take on Louisville at 9 a.m. in the third place match. Match #17 - A (Bass-Rudd Tennis Center)
