    Final Stats

    HOUSTON - The University of Houston Tennis team competed in the rain shortened Rice Invitation in Houston this weekend.

    Senior Celia Fraser competed in flight one of the singles competition. After dropping her first two matches (7-6, 7-6 and 6-3, 7-5) before defeating Ansley Boarman from Abilene Christian in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

    Junior Charlotte Phillips competed in flight two of the Rice Invitational. After fighting off a tie-breaker in set one of her opening match against UTA's Astrid Gehre, Phillips cruised in the second set and took the match 7-6(3), 6-0. Phillips took set one of her second round match 6-3 before falling 6-3, 6-4 to Northwestern State's Tatiana Larina and then falling again in straight sets 6-2,6-2 in her consolation match.

    Fraser and Phillips were scheduled to also compete in doubles play but after a first round bye, their second round doubles match was canceled due to rain.

    The Cougars head to Hilton Head, S.C. next week for the Hilton Head 10K Event. The event will be held Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.
