FAYETTEVILLE/HOUSTON - Elena Kordolaimi and Liselot Koenen highlighted play for the University of Houston Women's Tennis team as the Cougars competed at the Razorback Classic and Rice Invite on Saturday.
After posting a gutty three-set victory in the opening round of the singles main draw of the Razorback Classic on Friday, Kordolaimi pulled off another exciting three-set win (5-7, 7-5, 6-3) over Arkansas' Sarah McLean in Saturday's semifinals. The Lamia, Greece, native will meet Maria Christensen of Missouri in the singles flight title on Sunday.
The Cougar duo of Kordolaimi and Koenen bounced back from Friday's defeat to top Stephen F. Austin's De Haan and Terentyeva by a score of 8-3 in the consolation round to advance to Sunday's title match.
Houston had another tough day at the Rice Invite, as Celia Fraser fell in the main draw semifinals to the Owls' Kim Anicete by a score of 7-6(4), 6-3, while three other Cougars dropped their matches in the consolation bracket.
