WACO, Texas - Fresh off its first win over a ranked opponent since 2008, the University of Houston women's tennis team continues play this weekend with the HEB Invitational at the Baylor Tennis Center.
"This tournament is a great opportunity for us to face three nationally ranked teams, all of whom I expect to be playing in the NCAA tournament this May," head coach Patrick Sullivan said. "It is set up in a great format that will allow us to play our entire roster and will give everyone an opportunity to step up against very tough competition."
Action begins at 10 a.m., on Friday morning as the Cougars will face No. 15 Baylor in doubles play, followed by the singles portion at 1:30 p.m., against No. 69 Auburn.
The Cougars meet No. 59 Stephen F. Austin in doubles and the Bears in singles action on Saturday, and close the weekend against Auburn in doubles play and the Ladyjacks in singles action on Sunday.
Houston opened the 2013 season under first-year head coach Patrick Sullivan on Tuesday, posting a dominating 5-1 victory over No. 59 Stephen F. Austin, marking the program's first win over a ranked opponent since March 22, 2008.
