HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team returns home after six-consecutive road matches to play host to UTPA at 11 a.m., on Sunday at John E. Hoff Courts. The Cougars were originally scheduled to face Louisiana Tech on Friday, but that match has been postposted to a later date.
The Cougars posted a 4-2 record in the six-match road tilt to improve to 7-3 overall this season in dual play. Houston is coming off a 4-3 victory over Florida Gulf Coast after suffering its third 4-3 loss of the season at North Florida.
Houston has stepped up play in doubles action recently, winning the last four doubles points as the Cougars went 3-1 in those matches. The Cougar tandem of Elena Kordolaimi and Jo Garvey has earned a 6-1 record at the No. 2 position this spring, while Celia Fraser and Maja Kazimieruk have teamed up for a 6-2 mark at the No. 3 spot.
Kazimieruk, a senior from Poznan, Poland, paces the Cougars in singles play, reeling off nine-straight victories at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions to open the season before dropping her first match of the spring on Sunday at Florida Gulf Coast.
