HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team will look for its sixth win in the past eight matches when it plays host to UALR at 11 a.m., on Wednesday at John E. Hoff Courts.
The Cougars (11-5) are coming off of their fourth shutout of the season after blanking Western Michigan, 7-0, in the first of five home matches on Friday.
Several Cougars are currently riding winning streaks in singles action, as senior Maja Kazimieruk has strung four wins together for a team-best 14-2 mark this season, while Elena Kordolaimi and Charlotte Phillips have each claimed three-consecutive victories to improve to 10-5 and 9-6, respectively. Freshman Rocio Martin Fernandez has also been consistent in singles action, ranking second in wins with an 11-4 record in the upper half of the lineup.
Houston has also been tough in doubles play, collectively winning 70 percent of its matches, as Kazimieruk and Celia Fraser have teamed up for a stellar 11-2 mark at the No. 3 position and Kordolaimi and Jo Garvey have followed up with an 8-3 mark at the No. 2 spot.
