HOUSTON - The University of Houston tennis team defeated the Rice Owls 5-2 in Friday afternoon at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium at Rice University, extending their win strek to four matches.

Rice's Blair DiSesa and Lauren Archer won their set over Houston's Miranda Foley and Biljana Dimovska, 8-2, to open doubles play. The Owls, however, couldn't hang on for the doubles point. After Houston won the second doubles match, it was up to Yolandi Terblanche and Kami Miller who beat the Owls tandem of Yasmin Fisher and Annie Goodrich 9-8 (2).

Houston picked up wins in the No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 spots to seal the victory for the Cougars after Rice's Blair DiSesa knocked off Miranda Foley 6-2, 5-4. Houston picked up wins with a Biljana Dimovska win over Tracie Chong 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-3 at the two spot, Yolandi Terblanche beat Karen Cho 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, Karine Urbin downed Yasmin Fisher 6-4, 7-6 (6) and Kami Miller beat Annie Goodrich 7-6 (5), 6-2. The Owls only other singles win was a 6-1, 6-1 victory by Archer over UH's Diana Martin.
