Tennis Signee Claims Professional Title in Greece

Despoina Vogasari claimed her second overall professional title over the weekend

May 20, 2013

ATHENS, Greece - University of Houston tennis signee Despoina Vogasari earned her first career professional doubles title playing as an amateur over the weekend at the ITF Marathon Futures Tournament in Athens, Greece.

Vogasari partnered with Lina Gjorcheska of Macedonia, notching four wins en route to the title. The duo won the first three matches in straight sets, including two victories against the top two seeds before triumphing in a third-set tiebreaker in the finals.

This weekend's doubles title was the latest achievement for Vogasari in an impressive year, as the Athens native won her first professional singles title last fall and represented her country in the prestigious Federation Cup in April.

Vogasari will team up with current Cougar and fellow Greece native Elena Kordolaimi in another professional tournament this week, as both will also compete in the singles portion.

Vogasari is part of Houston's 2013 signing class that was tabbed as the nation's sixth-best class by TennisRecruiting.net.
