Borwell Finishes Tennis Career in Second Round of NCAAs

Stanford, California- - Senior tennis sensation Sarah Borwell, finished her season on Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA women's singles Championships. Borwell finishes her season 13-3 and her career 54-32 for the University of Houston.

Borwell defeated Victoria Stoklasova for South Alabama 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of the tournament Tuesday morning. Looking solid moving in to the second round later the same day, She took a 4-2 lead over Vilmarie Castevelli of Tennessee before hitting a wall and falling 6-4, 6-1.

At the awards dinner preceding the tournament, Borwell received the Sissy Leary Achievement Award for our region. The award was named after the late Sissy Leary, former head coach at Penn State who was known for her vivacious spirit and unending dedication to her athletes and the sport of tennis.
