Women's Tennis Back in Action this Weekend

Houston, Texas - Sarah Borwell has advanced to the third round of qualifying in the National Tennis Tournament in Los Angles, California. Currently ranked #28 in the country in singles play, Sarah is expected to lead the Cougars to victory this season. The qualifying round began yesterday (Oct. 9). Borwell began the tournament by defeating Katherine Lynch of Cal-Berkley in two sets 6-3 and 6-2. Later that afternoon Borwell defeated Carol Subais of Mississippi State in three sets 6-1, 6-7, 6-0.

Today Borwell will play Mira Radu of Ole Miss for a spot in the Main Draw beginning tomorrow. The Main Draw consists of the top 32 players in the nation. The championship match will take place on Sunday, October 14, 2001.

The remaining Houston Cougar team will play in the UH Fall Invitational Tournament this weekend at the UH varsity courts.
