HOUSTON - University of Houston senior Neila Starratt was named the Conference USA Tennis Player of the Month as announced by the league office Wednesday. Starratt won the singles championship at the 2009 Alonti Cougar Fall Draw, along with a doubles championship while going a perfect 6-0 during the month of November.

Starratt captured the singles championship in the Flight D bracket of the 2009 Alonti Cougar Fall Draw, defeating Southeastern Louisiana's Annika Nanke in the finals 7-5, 6-0, and earning her first career singles title. The Bedford, Nova Scotia, native also earned the Flight B doubles championship of the event alongside partner Elena Kazakova.

Following the completion of their fall semester, Starratt and the Cougars return to action in the spring when they kick off their 2010 campaign by hosting Sam Houston State on Feb. 13.
