HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team announced this week that it has received the commitments from two outstanding student-athletes, Bryony Hunter and Alexandra Pickerill, who will join the squad next fall.

Hunter is a native of Essex, U.K., where she attended Monkton Combe School. She carries a 3.2 rating from the Lawn Tennis Association and has captured multiple junior ITF doubles titles during her prep career.

"Bryony will bring some much needed doubles talents to Houston in August," said head coach John Severance. "I look forward to coaching and training Bryony to becoming not only a great doubles player but a fantastic singles player as well."

Pickerill is also an international player, who hails from Wicklow, Ireland, where she was enrolled at St. Gerad's School. She is ranked as a top three player in Ireland's under 18 division.

"Alexandra has a great work ethic and a solid tennis background," said Severance. "Her talents will strengthen next year's team."
