UH Tennis Mounts Huge Comeback to Defeat Texas A&M
HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team overcame a
4-2 deficit to down previously undefeated Texas A&M, 5-4, on Tuesday
afternoon at the UH Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Cougars trailed 4-2 after singles play as senior Luciane Kelbert and sophomore Joanna Cunliffe each pulled out victories for UH. Needing to sweep doubles to earn the win, Houston (3-2) received victories from its number one and three doubles teams. In the decisive match, the tandem of Kelbert and freshman Kailey Meisinger triumphed in dramatic fashion, 9-7, over Eva Marcial and Kathryn Scott of Texas A&M (4-1). The Cougars next play on Friday, Mar. 5 at 5 p.m. against New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M.
