Cougar Women's Tennis Rolls Past UTEP
HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team put forth
a strong effort defeating UTEP 6-3 on Friday, April 9 at the UH Varsity
Tennis Courts.
The Cougars (8-10) came out of singles competition leading 4-2. UH was led by junior Galina Seliounina, the 75th ranked player in the nation won her match 6-1, 6-1. The No. 85 ranked player, sophomore Sarah Borwell had an impressive showing defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-1. Senior Luciane Kelbert, took care of her opposition 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Joanna Cunliffe disposed of her opponent in a hard fought match 6-3, 7-6 (4). Houston doubles then took control of the match, under the leadership of the #18 ranked team of Seliounina and Borwell. The tandem continued their impressive spring, winning their match 8-4. The Cougars secured the victory with senior Sarah Bolle and sophomore Joanna Cunliffe shutting down their opposition, 8-5. Houston will next play in the Conference USA Championships, April 15-18 in St. Louis, Missouri
